The Risk Monitoring Functional Center of the Lombardy region issued today, May 6, 2024a new yellow code weather alert for hydrogeological risk. “The progressive approach of a depression core from France brings a reinforcement of humid south-western currents, responsible for the first weak rains in Northern Italy,” is explained in the bulletin. In the second part of today May 6thnew and weak rainfall is expected between the Alps and Pre-Alps, with possible isolated showers, while phenomena will be occasional or absent between the plains and the Apennines. A moderate intensification of rainfall is expected in the Western Pre-Alps between the evening and the following night“.

For the day of tomorrow 7 May the weather warning bulletin for Lombardy reports that “New scattered precipitation is expected, light to moderate and locally in the form of showers. In the first part of the day the phenomena will affect the Alps, Pre-Alps, Apennines and the western plain, in the afternoon the remaining central-eastern plain sectors. We note the probability of thunderstorms in the afternoon on the plains (especially central-southern sectors) and on the Apennines, although a marginal involvement of the pre-Alpine sectors cannot be ruled out. The probability of strong thunderstorms is considered “very low”. Partial easing of rain in the evening. Overall for the day, accumulations generally between 5-30 mm are expected in part of the plain and in the Western Pre-Alps. On the central-western plain, in an isolated manner, accumulations of up to 40-60 mm cannot be ruled out by the afternoon-evening“.
