MASSA – «We need hires! We do not agree with the words used by the Progressive Pole in the request for personnel from the administration, making statements such as “too many traffic policemen”, talking about numerical ratios between employees of sectors with completely different tasks and skills was a wrong choice that sends a distorted message to all employees and to the citizens of Massa.” This was stated by Laura Bacci, local functions secretary of the FP Cgil Massa-Carrara.
«Speaking even of “repressive activity” of the Municipal Police only serves to discredit those who work and certainly not the administration, as far as we are concerned we are on the side of the workers of the Municipal Police of Massa who act in compliance with the Constitution, of laws, institutions and all citizens. We would like to remind you that in recent years the hiring of public employees has consistently been lower than the terminations as part of a process of privatization of public affairs desired by right-wing politics. In years of blocking turnover, national legislation has provided for derogatory and special provisions regarding the hiring of municipal police personnel, which is why starting from 2019 it has been possible to hire in this sector, so whether officers have been hired over the years is not certain because resources have been diverted to the detriment of other sectors.”
«We are not for wars between the poor. The reality is one, there is a lack of employees and the offices are overworked due to national regulations. We need hiring across all sectors: from social services to pharmacies, from educational services to construction, from public works to libraries, from administrative staff to the local police. Yes also in the Local Police which appears to be understaffed with insufficient staff. As Fp Cgil we are asking for an extraordinary plan of stable hiring in public administrations because otherwise the public administration will collapse. For this reason, as FP Cgil, having requested various tables from the Administration, we make an appeal to politicians, so that demagogy and political conflict as an end in themselves are abandoned on the reported condition, which deserves respect and attention, but we move forward”.
