ALEXANDRIA – There are less than two months left until “San Giorgio Festival”the event organized by the Anteprima Group in collaboration with the Municipality of Alessandria which from the end of June, and for more than a week, will animate Garibaldi square with concerts and shows to accompany the passage into the city of Tour de France. The festival had been announced at the end of March by the municipal administration and a few days ago the opening of pre-sales on TicketOne has revealed the names of the first four artists who will take the stage from 29 June to 6 July.
After news published by RadioGold several street vendors, traders and citizens have contacted the editorial staff “looking for more information“. Those who live or work in the Piazza Garibaldi area wonder that “impact” will have the festival on roads, parking and market. To date, the trade associations of traders know nothing and not even the street vendors who bring their stalls to Piazza Garibaldi have any information.
The offices of Palazzo Rosso are “still at work” to define the details of the reorganization of the square during the days of the festival, explained by the Municipality. Based on the first information collected by RadioGold, however, l‘show arena with 2500 seats should occupy half of the square towards the clock. On Monday during the festival, therefore, there will not be space for the entire market, which will at least have to be reduced. Once the festival arena has been erected, half of the square can still be used for parking, at least for a few hours before the start of concerts and shows. The stalls in Piazza Garibaldihowever, they will be inevitably half and in “hot” days for trade, and not just because it will be the beginning of July. The last days of the festival, in fact, coincide with the start of the summer sales and the idea of having less parking in the center is not exciting.
Anyone looking for precise and certain information on the Festival has also contacted in opposition in the city council of Alessandria. The leader of the League, Mattia Roggerocollected in particular the concerns of Alexandrian street vendors, has explained. The councilor obviously does not have the answers that citizens are asking for and expressed on RadioGold doubts about the management of the event by the administration: “I, like others, have seen sponsored pages on social media but so far the Municipality has not yet said anything about how a festival that will last several days will be organized in a key point of the city. As an opposition party we are obviously happy that there are events in Alessandria but if the Municipality announces the “return of San Giorgio” and contributes to the organization of a festival it would at least be appropriate for that event to be free and accessible to all. Here, however, the activities and traffic of one of the main squares of the city will be affected and for an event that only those who can afford to buy the ticket will be able to attend“.
