PESARO The historic center does not want to lose the seasonal challenge that pits it against the seaside area also because, on paper, the summer as Capital of Culture promises to be full of events that will see activities involved. «There will be a long series of collateral initiatives to the official program of Pesaro 2024 – announces the councilor for Commerce Francesca Frenquellucci – The program is now almost ready, the definitive one will be announced shortly. No bare historic center. Indeed, it will be full of evening events and with commercial activities open. No contrast between the sea and the center. We have had many requests for markets or street food also from the Bay or other neighborhoods. In the centre, the markets that will no longer be able to find space in Piazza del Popolo will be moved between Via San Francesco, Via Pedrotti, Piazza Fava behind the Scavolini Auditorium and Piazzale Europa. Which is why we will have a center that is always alive like the seafront. And at the request of the associations there will be a boom in niche and sought-after markets.”

Something every evening

The shops, premises and businesses that are part of the natural shopping centers (Piazzale Lazzarini, Via Passeri, Via Castelfidardo, Via Cavour, Piazzetta Mosca just to mention the areas that periodically launch initiatives) are ready to collaborate, but also ask for support . A request that arises from some associations of traders who over time have come together locally, grouping together neighborhood activities in the name of union, provides the strength to share strategies and objectives, including the planning of events and initiatives capable of enlivening people’s walks. Let’s say that in recent years between Covid and post Covid the Municipality had granted concessions to trade especially for the occupation of public land. Then the incentives ended with the normalized situation, but in the meantime we found ourselves having to deal with other headaches including widespread price increases.

There is grumbling about the 4% increase in the Tari which, on balance, will end up weighing mainly on activities and businesses but, if you want to play the card of attractiveness and events, you will also have to consider other expenses, such as the SIAE if you want to music, and then logistics and safety because more movement also presupposes vigilance.

In a nutshell, the traders are available to do their part and to combine the Municipality’s program of public events with their own program of initiatives as has been the case for years in the summer (the Sanpietrino street on Tuesdays, the Wednesdays in via Passeri, the Thursdays of via Cavour, to name the most consolidated ones), but they also expect help in terms of contributions. For example, the Municipality assigns contributions to the Apa to organize summer events and could also facilitate the central area. Among the shopkeepers in the center there are those who, last year, spent up to 5 thousand euros on the cost of musicians, artists and other permits. For each live event, Siae costs between 100 and 200 euros, security around 250 euros, but it depends on the scope. Figures that the associations should then ask in cascade from their members, not always with an obvious outcome. Hence the request to the Administration while the programming is being defined.

«In all – Paolo Trau, representative of the natural shopping center in Piazzale Lazzarini, reports on the sidelines of the first meeting – each association will have one evening a week, from June to the end of August. Piazzale Lazzarini for example will have a particular niche market and we will extend along via Curiel and up to the first section of via Passeri, while the second section will be the responsibility of the traders’ association of via Passeri”.
