A tragic road accident involved the councilor of the Municipality of Avella, Santina Cerbone, and his mother, along the Puglia National Road, on the border between Monteforte Irpino and Mugnano. As we told you yesterday, their car violently crashed into a tree near the Taurano junction.
In the accident, mother and daughter suffered serious injuries. Unfortunately, her mother, at the age of 73, did not survive her injuries and died while being transported to hospital. The authorities, with the Carabinieri at the forefront, have launched an investigation to clarify the dynamics of the incident.
The victims, trapped between the sheets of metal, were freed and received first aid from the Baiano 118 rescuers. The Fire Brigade of the Provincial Command of Avellino promptly intervened at the site of the accident. Work is currently underway to ascertain the exact causes of the accident. The community is waiting for answers as they rally around the families affected by this tragedy.
