The Feast of San Gennaro in Naples

The miracle of May, the first of the year performed by San Gennaro, may not be repeated: the blood of the Patron Saint is not dissolved. At the end of the procession there will be any official event.
It has not yet been accomplished first miracle of the year performed by San Gennarothe so-called May miracle: the blood of the Patron Saint of Naples it didn’t come out loose from the shrine, As usual during the May miracle (which takes place on the first Saturday of May, ed) at 5 pm the Archbishop of Naples, Monsignor Domenico Battaglia, took the relics and ampoules of San Gennaro – and of the other co-patrons of the city – from the Treasury Chapel in the Cathedral of Naples. Immediately afterwards the procession started, followed by a crowd of faithful, throughout the historic center, up to the Monastery of Santa Chiara.
Once the procession has arrived in the basilica in the heart of Naples, Archbishop Battaglia will celebrate the Holy Mass, at the end of which, after taking the ampoule containing the blood of San Gennaro, there will be any certification of the missed miracle . Along the route the parish priests honor the patron saint with the offering of incense and the ringing of bells.
On the first Saturday in May, or it would be more correct to say the Saturday preceding the first Sunday in May, the first of the three annual wonders of San Gennaro takes place. The so-called May miracle is celebrated in memory of the first translation of the relics of the martyr bishop, patron saint of Naples, from Pozzuoli to the Cathedral; San Gennaro, in fact, was beheaded in the Phlegraean city, and only later were his relics moved to the Campania capital.
