Brescia-Lecco, Malgrati: «We will try to annoy you»

Lecco goes to Brescia with hundreds of fans in tow, more than 400 according to the latest findings from the Rigamonti ticket office. The desire to give more and more dignity to his championship finale, despite the mathematical relegation, is great. Even if it doesn’t count for anything for the Bluceleste standings, Brescia-Lecco counts first and foremost for the home team and then for the Lecco fans who are tired of taking goals and defeats like it rains. With Malgrati things went better (except for the Parma period). But there is still avenging for that home debut in Serie B, a daring 0-2, in which Brescia collected much more than they deserved. Lecco dominated that match but conceded two goals, the first “on Sunday” and the second a generous gift. Then he missed two penalties. In short, Malgrati is counting on his spirit of revenge. “It will certainly be a special match – admits the Bluceleste coach – but the boys put in a wonderful finish which tells me a lot about their desire to take to the pitch. I’ll have to ask my parents for benefits again. Of course, we couldn’t throw the ball in, we created many more scoring chances than goals. Optimizing opportunities is the watchword and we will try to annoy Brescia in this.”

It will also be the third match in a week: “Between the second and third it’s always a problem to play at your best. But the only ones unavailable – replies Andrea Malgrati – are Louakima and Capradossi, the latter due to a knee problem. I can see all the others well: even if the matches were close and expensive, we always run a lot even during the week, so it won’t be a problem.”

In the meantime, however, the championship is already virtually over for Lecco. Is it possible that the news about the club, the uncertainties, the chatter, don’t make it difficult to train as best as possible and think about the football you play? “What happens in society doesn’t concern us. We have other things to think about. There is nothing to say about this. A point or a victory are important for us regardless. We will perform our performance without entering the pitch with the attitude of Parma where we made a mistake in approaching the match. B is a showcase for everyone. And we try to honor it.”

Malgrati has another year on his contract, regardless of who comes: “I don’t know what will happen to me or to the club, I repeat. We will see. The focus is on trying to improve everyone from the oldest to the youngest and putting the best team on the pitch. These are not things that need to be addressed now.” Let’s talk about Brescia again then: “We won’t change the formation, but we will do something different on the pitch. Football is increasingly a-positional, the defense will be at 4 but then during a match you could also switch to three or two at the back, if necessary.”

Brescia will be vigorous. He wants to win to go to the play-offs: “The home team also wanted to win in Parma. And they put us under. So the mental attitude must be different. What we said was not to repeat the many mistakes we made there and elsewhere. Often they were technical errors, other times tactical, but I don’t accept the mental ones. Every team in the world has one bad match a year, but attitudes don’t: they must always be “right”. I expect the team to play its game.”
