Are we what we eat? Nourish the body and mind. It will revolve around this question and our daily relationship with food XV edition of the Pistoia Dialoguesan event which, with growing success, has been building moments of in-depth analysis on social transformations for years and which will be held from 24 to 26 May.

The Festival conceived and directed by Giulia Cogoli and promoted by the Caript Foundation and the Municipality of Pistoia will be divided into 55 events and, through the participation and contribution of historians, anthropologists, philosophers, psychologists, chefs and writers, will investigate the relationship between the and food, and in their moment of sharing, capturing the social and cultural experience.

The Pistoia Dialogues will also talk about sustainability, prevention and how food has traveled and how it will change the future.

“The choice of food today is indicative – said Festival director Giulia Cogoli – of tastes, ideologies, fashions and even future prospects. We divide ourselves into food tribes: vegetarians, vegans, fruitarians, staunch defenders of the omnivore. Talking about food therefore means talking about identity, cultures, community and ecology. Without forgetting that too many people still suffer from malnutrition or malnutrition, while in some parts of the world abundant food is wasted and thrown away..”

The International Dialoghi di Pistoia Award will be awarded this year to the career of the journalist and writer Corrado Augias for his extraordinary commitment to the diffusion and promotion of culture and reading.

The program, in short, will open on May 24th, with the inaugural conference by the philosopher and writer Michela Marzano entitled What are young people hungry for today?

On the stage of the Manzoni Theatre, in the evening, the trumpeter and composer Paolo Fresu and the Cuban pianist Omar Sosa will be on stage for the Food concert.

The professor. Stefano Mancusofounder of plant neurobiology and international expert on plants, will be expected in the conference “A species without limits: how not to eat the earth”.

The events on Saturday 25 May will see the presence of the critic Daniele Cernilli in What does wine mean; of the professor of circular economy Andrea Segrè for the conference For zero waste food education; the anthropologist Marino Nola it will explain how we have transformed nutrition into a form of secular asceticism and ethics into dietetics; Stefania De Pascale will illustrate the most advanced solutions to support human life in space; the cultural anthropologist Gaia Cottimo will guide the public to discover novel food.

They will also be present in the detailed conferences on Saturday and Sunday: the historian Andrea Riccardi, the anthropologist Adriano Fables, the anthropologist Elisabetta Morothe founder of the Bose community Enzo Bianchi, the journalist Stefano Liberti; the anthropologist Vito Teti in What do I eat here?, Massimo Montanari which will take us to the origins of vegetarianism, the psychiatrist Vittorio Lingiardi in the conference When food tells the story of mental pain; the starred chef Christina Bowerman and criticism Camilla Baresani in the meeting High cuisine without taboos; the psychologist Laura Pigozzi in I educate how I eat; the sociologist Luisa Stagi in the conference Food porn and diet; the doctor Franco Berrino will outline the guidelines for eating correctly; the writer and chef Tommaso Melilli will talk about Why we go to restaurants; Writer Antonio Manzini and the anthropologist Marco Aime they will discuss in I was a carnivore but I’m trying to quit.

The XV edition of Dialoghi di Pistoia will also be enriched, until the end of June, with the photographic exhibition Food and aroma markets organized in collaboration with Confcommercio and created by the anthropologist and photographer Marco Aime.
