Perugia, 3 May 2024 – Following the decisions taken at the Technical Coordination Meeting held in the Prefecture, extraordinary joint checks were further intensified in the province of Perugia in order to prevent and repress episodes of petty crime, crimes against property, illegal immigration, drug dealing and assaults.

The prevention activity carried out in Assisi saw the use of a joint force composed of personnel from the State Police, the Financial Police and the Carabinieri, who carried out a careful check, including with foot patrols of the targeted areas, identifying 216 people; 55 vehicles and 3 commercial businesses were also monitored.

The services also covered the urban areas of the Municipality of Città di Castello, where the personnel of the State Police, together with the soldiers of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, in addition to the agents of the Local Police, carried out an inspection of the center historic, then extending patrolling to the most isolated peripheral areas to prevent home burglaries and intercept individuals engaged in illicit activities.

During the joint checks, the staff identified 191 people and subjected 129 vehicles to checks; two sanctions for violations of the Highway Code were also contested.

The inter-force monitoring also involved the city of Foligno where the staff of the PS Commissariat, assisted by the crews of the Crime Prevention Department and the Carabinieri, carried out various checkpoints, useful for verifying incoming and outgoing traffic and subject suspects or people with police records to more in-depth checks.

The prevention activity in the Foligno area allowed the identification of 39 people and the monitoring of 37 vehicles; 2 fines for violation of the Highway Code were also contested.

The checks also involved 3 commercial establishments, where the customers were identified in order to ascertain any attendance by convicted criminals and to carry out administrative checks regarding compliance with the rules established by the TULPS, and those relating to the ban of supplying alcohol to minors.

The extraordinary joint services also involved the urban areas of Spoleto and the Municipality of Cerreto di Spoleto, where the State Police personnel, together with the soldiers of the Carabinieri and the crews of the Umbria Marche Crime Prevention Department, carried out a check of the historic center, then extending patrolling to the most isolated peripheral areas to prevent home burglaries and intercept individuals engaged in illicit activities.

In the Spoleto area, 67 people were identified, 38 vehicles were checked; checks were also carried out at 3 commercial establishments in order to ascertain compliance with the rules laid down by the TULPS.

The intensification of joint checks will continue in the coming days.
