The San Giovanni Evangelista Hospital in Tivoli announces the reopening of the departments, subject to interventions after the damage caused by a fire that occurred last December. Among the departments that are back in operation are Nephrology, Medicine and Psychiatric Diagnostics, together with Radiology, Immunohaematology and Transfusion Medicine services.
Reopening of essential departments and services
The departments had been seriously damaged due to the fire that broke out between 8 and 9 December 2023. Thanks to the works planned by the local health authority Roma 5, with the support of the Lazio Region, the emergency period was averted, allowing the restoration of health facility services to the community.
Increase in healthcare provision
There reopening of the Nephrology, Medicine and Psychiatric diagnosis departments represents an important step for the restoration of the healthcare offer of the San Giovanni Evangelista Hospital. In addition to these departments, the structure can already count on services such as the Dialysis department, the outpatient clinics, the oncology day hospital and the First Aid Point.
Upcoming reopenings and structural improvements
The timetable includes gradual reopening of further departments and services, including general surgery, analysis laboratory, operating block, intensive care, birth center, haemodynamics and emergency room. Furthermore, safety certifications and adjustments to fire regulations have been carried out, guaranteeing the protection of patients and staff.
The president of the Lazio RegionFrancesco Rocca, underlined the importance of reopening the hospital safely and thanked the extraordinary commissioner of ASL Roma 5, Silvia Cavalli, for her commitment to strengthening vital services for the community of Tivoli.
Future improvements and enhancements
Through significant financial resources, the San Giovanni Evangelista Hospital has benefited from improvements to expand healthcare provision and improve the quality of care. Projects are underway to strengthen interventional radiology, endoscopy and screening services, as well as the creation of a center for the care of cancer patients.
One of the future objectives is the reactivation and strengthening of the emergency roomwith the provision of a complete restructuring and the implementation of new diagnostic technologies to guarantee an efficient and timely service.
