The Catania City Council has established the permanent pedestrian area in Piazza Federico di Svevia, north and west carriageway, from via Castello Ursino to via Sant’AngeloCustode and north and west lane, of the widening to the north; via Castello Ursino, from via Riccardo da Lentini to piazza Federico di Svevia; Alaimo street; via San Calogero, from piazza Federico di Svevia to via Scuto and via Scuto itself.

In the same area of ​​the castle the municipal executive has decided to establish the temporary nocturnal pedestrian area, from 7.00 pm to 7.00 am the following day on weekdays and permanent only on holidays, in Piazza Federico di Svevia, roadway south and east and east lane, of the widening to the north; via S. Angelo Custode, from piazza Federico di Svevia to via Plebiscito; via Bufalo; via Grimaldi, from via Plebiscito to piazza Federico di Svevia; via San Sebastiano; via De Grazia.

By order of the Council, the activation of telematic access control with cameras will take place after the parking stalls have been made available at the Multifunctional Center in via Zurria (75) and the stalls made available by the Port Authority (145), through the installation of eight electronic gates in via Castello Ursino, west side, intersection with the north side of via Riccardo da Lentini; via Alaimo, south side, corner of via Reitano; Piazza Federico di Svevia, southern carriageway, north side, intersection with via Sant’Angelo Custode; via Sant’Angelo Custode, east side, intersection with via Plebiscito; via Bufalo, east side, intersection with via Plebiscito; via Grimaldi, east side, intersection with via Plebiscito; via Transito, south side, intersection with via Castello Ursino; via Gisira, south side, intersection with via Castello Ursino.

Furthermore, the AMTS will guarantee a shuttle bus in the evening hours to connect the R1 car park in via Plebiscito and the neighboring Piazza Vaccarini (79 stalls) with Piazza Federico di Svevia.

The Azienda Metropolitana Trasporti e Sosta Catania SpA is also entrusted with the service of issuing entry passes to those entitled to enter the aforementioned areas, which will take place exclusively through an online procedure on a web platform. It is also envisaged that in the event of transit due to urgent and unplannable needs of those not entitled, the possibility of regularizing access by sending, within 48 hours following passage through the pedestrian area, to the email address: [email protected] or by accessing the Amts web platform.
