The municipal administration of Reggio Calabria has handed over to the citizens the equipped play area located on the Latella seafront, near the Naval League of Pellaro. A previously unused place that is returned to the usability of citizens who will now be able to make it their own, with a new opportunity of enjoyment in particular for children of the populous hamlet in the southern area. The new park hosts different types of games and rides for the little ones and soon there will also be a compliant carousel for children with disabilities.
The area had been embellished with colored murals, benches, baskets, with a part intended for dog walking, all with a view to a program that aims to give new decorum to the peripheral area of the city. The interventions were possible thanks to a total sum of 89 thousand euros from the Pon Metro. In the next few days an expression of interest will be launched for the management of a kiosk which will be built to provide services to the area.
On the same afternoon, again in Pellaro, at the “Cardea” Civic Center, the redevelopment project for the town hall, which will soon begin work, was presented during a meeting with citizens. The redevelopment will concern the recovery of the historic building of the ancient town hall. The financing is 629 thousand euros as part of the operational program complementary to the Pon Metropolitan Cities 2014-2020. The ambition is that the building, once returned to its former splendor, with the recreation of the new districts, can host one of the five future city municipalities.
