Lecce, with a victory in Cagliari you are safe: here’s why

Good news from Acaya, where the Giallorossi were involved yesterday afternoon in a friendly test with the Primavera team. Burnete and Touba did a personalized job while it is worth mentioning that Pongračić and Ramadani trained regularly with the rest of the group.

Another good news is that Lecce, in the event of a victory against Mister Ranieri’s Cagliari, they could find mathematical salvation in Serie A.

The Giallorossi team, throughout the entire championship, has never slipped into the relegation zone and, thanks to its 36 points accumulated, is in a position that could guarantee its salvation.

Thanks also to the favorable head-to-head matches, Luca Gotti’s Lecce is +7 from the third-to-last position, temporarily occupied by Udinese. There are still 4 days to play in front of us and, therefore, there are another 12 points up for grabs.

But how would Lecce achieve mathematical salvation?

If Lecce wins in Cagliari and Udinese loses, they are mathematically safe.

In case of victory, the Salento team would move to +10 from the third to last with three days still to play and, therefore, only 9 points available. Therefore, the others would not be able to reach Lecce in any case.

If Lecce wins in Cagliari and Udinese draws: in this hypothesis, however, everything must be postponed to the calendar of the Friulians who, after Lecce, will have to face Frosinone and Empoli, in real battles for salvation which would inevitably take away points from one of the two teams: Udinese, Empoli and Frosinone find themselves in the situation of having to win all three remaining matches of the championship in order to hope to reach Lecce in the standings.

However, this feat appears impossible, since these clubs will have to clash directly in the final days. As a result, at least one of the teams will suffer a defeat (or at most will get two draws), effectively making Lecce unreachable.
