THE investigative findings arrived as part of an intense and constant prevention activity in the streets of the historic center and the city streets which in just a few days made it possible to identify those responsible for thefts committed against unsuspecting citizens and tourists.
Precisely the extensive knowledge of the territories and of the subjects with prejudices of the Police, constantly monitored with day and night checks, has speeded up the investigations aimed at reconstructing the dynamics of a theft from a food shop and of some thefts of bags and objects left unattended inside vehicles parked in lower Modica.
In the first case, following the timely report of the business owner and the immediate viewing of the cameras present near the targeted business, the police traced the perpetrator of the burglary which had occurred a few evenings before where a misrepresented man had entered the inside the shop, removing a few hundred euros.
Although the culprit was initially misrepresented, far from the shop he partially revealed his identity, which thanks to the vision of the images of the previous days, it was established that the young thief had made an inspection of the business in question and had entered it wearing the same clothes the next night.
The subject, with a history of robbery and injuries, was well known to the Agents who proceeded to refer him to the Judicial Authority for aggravated theft.
A second person was reported to the local prosecutor’s office, as she was responsible for two skilful thefts.
The subject stationed near the parked cars was waiting for a moment of distraction from the owners, who, without closing the car, with extreme speed removed the wax inside it.
In both episodes, the images recorded by public and private systems were decisive, making it possible to identify the thief, a young foreigner aged 27, resident in Modica, with numerous police records for crimes against property.
Part of the stolen property was found and delivered to the rightful owner.
