Improving skills in the most advanced endoscopic techniques in the urological field is one of the objectives of the course “Endourology Course Hands-on: State of the Art Looking at the Future”, which will take place at the Paolo Borsellino hospital in Trapani on 9/10 May 2024 .
The course, created by Emanuele Caldarera, director of the complex Urology operational unit of the hospital, in collaboration with the Urology specialization schools of the universities of Messina and Catania, is aimed at recent residents with the aim of deepening the techniques endoscopic procedures most commonly used with particular reference to the treatment of urinary stones.
During the event, in addition to an in-depth section on the most innovative methods in the endourological field, there will be the possibility of using a digital intervention simulator, the latest invention of Israeli manufacturing.
The course will end with a surgery section during which it will be possible to witness two simultaneous operations live in the operating rooms of the Paolo Borsellino hospital: while Caldarera will perform a robot-assisted flexible ureterorenolithorrhyxy, followed by a nephrolithotripsy with mini-percutaneous access At the same time, the French surgeon Olivier Traxer, professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris and one of the world’s leading experts in urinary lithiasis, will perform two flexible ureterorenolitripsy operations.
