Fewer agricultural and commercial enterprises. Service and construction buildings. These are some of the findings that emerge from the analysis of the Riviere di Liguria Chamber of Commerce on Movimprese data which photographs the demographic trend of businesses in the province of Savona in the first quarter of 2024. With 28,695 businesses registered as of 31 March 2024, the balance between registrations and terminations is substantially in line with the same period last year (21 fewer units equal to -0.07% in percentage terms), in the presence of an economic scenario of uncertainty due to the worrying international situation.
The comparison between the registrations and terminations of the 1st quarter of 2024 with those of the 1st quarter of 2023, in fact, highlights how, in absolute values, an increase was recorded in the number of registrations (from the 543 new openings of the 1st quarter of 2023 there was in fact increased to 585 in the same period in 2024) which corresponded to a decrease in terminations (from 670 non-official terminations in the 1st quarter of 2023 it went to 606 in the first three months of the current year).
The registration rate (calculated as the percentage ratio between the number of registrations in the quarter considered and the stock of companies registered at the beginning of that quarter), has also grown, having gone from 1.87% in the 1st quarter of 2023 to the 2nd .04% of the 1st quarter of 2024, while the termination rate (calculated as the percentage ratio between the number of terminations in the quarter considered and the stock of companies registered at the beginning of that quarter) decreased from 2.31% of the 1st quarter quarter 2023 at 2.11% of the 1st quarter 2024.

The comparison between geographical areas highlights how the data relating to the growth rate (calculated as the percentage ratio between the balance of registered and closed businesses in the quarter considered and the stock of businesses registered at the beginning of the quarter) of Savonese businesses referring to the 1st quarter 2024 (-0.07%) is, despite having a negative sign, still better than both the regional data (-0.09%), and those of the North West (-0.21%) and national (-0.18% ).
As for the economic sectors, it is highlighted that a negative change in the stock was recorded for all of them (i.e. the percentage change that occurred compared to the stock at the beginning of the quarter). In detail, for agriculture there was a percentage change in the stock of -1.05%, for trade a change of -0.93%, for services of -0.38%, for construction of – 0.25% and for industry -0.22%.
Finally, reading the data divided by legal form highlights a growth in joint-stock companies which increased by 38 units during the 1st quarter of 2024 (+0.78%), while partnerships decreased (-37 units equal to at -0.56%), individual businesses – which represent 58% of the total businesses in the province – with a balance of -20 units (equal to -0.12%) and other legal forms (-2 units; -0.28%).
