Teatro Vittoria, Le Bal – Italy dances from 1940 to 2001

From the From 7 to 19 May it goes on stage at the Teatro Vittoria in Rome Le Bal, Italy dances from 1940 to 2001, from an original idea by Jean-Claude Penchenat directed by Giancarlo Fares.

It all takes place in a dance hall, a meeting place for older men and women: a kaleidoscope of events that accompanies the audience on an exciting journey through time marked by music that becomes dramaturgy. The couples dance and in a crescendo they take off their gray clothes to magically return to 1940.
And from this moment on, history reigns supreme and music marks its evolution. Dancing from dawn to dusk, from war to peace, from tears to laughter, from pain to love. During the day, at night, at the disco, at the seaside and on the street, during the day, at night, alone or as a couple. Sixty years of Italian history, sometimes fantastic, sometimes tragic, chase each other on the stage entrusted to 12 unstoppable actors/dancers and the extraordinary communicative power of music, actions, gestures and sounds. The Second World War, the liberation, the economic boom, class struggles, corruption, drugs, degradation, the fear of September 11th and the reconquest of values, of love that gives hope by narrating the changes in daily life , migration towards the north, clothing, eating, the way of expressing one’s emotions. An explosion of energy, colors and poetry between continuous changes of costume and atmosphere on the notes that belong to our memory – from Claudio Villa to Domenico Modugno, Adriano Celentano, Gino Paoli, Gianni Morandi, Mina, Rita Pavone, Raffaella Carrà, the Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones and Gloria Gaynor – or marching while the hymns that have marked history resound. «Le Bal. Italy dances from 1940 to 2001″ is a highly original and exuberant wordless story that blossoms before the public, conquering them step by step.
