Two people identified and reported in Modica by police officers will have to answer for crimes against property.

In just a few days, the investigative findings made it possible to identify those responsible for the thefts committed against unsuspecting citizens and tourists. In particular, it concerns a theft from a grocery store and some thefts of bags and objects left unattended inside vehicles parked in lower Modica.

In the first case, following the timely report from the business owner and the immediate viewing of the cameras present near the business, the police traced the perpetrator of the burglary which had occurred a few evenings before where a misrepresented man had entered the inside the shop, removing a few hundred euros.

From the images it was seen that the young thief had made an inspection of the business that was then targeted and had entered it the following night wearing the same clothes. The man, with a history of robbery and injuries, was known to the Agents who have now referred him to the Judicial Authority for aggravated theft.

A second person was reported to the local prosecutor’s office, as she was responsible for two skilful thefts.

The subject stationed near the parked cars was waiting for a moment of distraction from the owners, who, without closing the car, with extreme speed removed what was inside it.

In both episodes, the images recorded by public and private systems were decisive. The thief is a young 27-year-old foreigner, resident in Modica, with numerous police records for property crimes. Part of the stolen property was delivered to the rightful owner.
