Latina, 2 May 2024 – Mayor Matilde Celentano and Sports Councilor Andrea Chiarato, together with the delegate for major events Alessandro Marfisi, awarded sporting excellences who distinguished themselves during 2023 by carrying the name of Latina high.
The ceremony took place in two parts in the council chamber.
The first to be received were the Italian autocross (land speed) champions Emanuele and Angelo Consoli, who in 2023 established themselves as first overall in the super buggy category. They were presented with a plaque and a medal.
Then it was the turn of the Fairplay school, an association recognized by CONI as “meritorious”. The organization carries out social and cultural activities, giving ample space to inclusion and sport for all.
The co-founders of the association, the president Marco Ghirotto and Luca Zavatti, and all the young athletes of the football school took part in the ceremony. Each of them was given a medal and Fairplay was given a plaque.
“Our administration has wanted, on several occasions, to give relevance to the sporting world by rewarding those who, thanks to their talent and sacrifices, have brought prestige to the city of Latina – declared the Mayor Matilde Celentano -. With the same motivations today we wanted to meet and pay homage to the two Italian champions Emanuele and Angelo Consoli and the Fairplay school association which has a fundamental role in sporting inclusion in the Latina area”.
“Our intention is to demonstrate the closeness of the administration to those who have carried out paths of sacrifice and commitment in every activity – stated councilor Andrea Chiarato -. The athletes awarded today are the emblem of the values we intend to promote: tenacity in achieving the desired results, but above all respect, inclusion and loyalty, the basis of every sporting competition and of life”.
