A refined one viewer produced by Apple it could soon become the flagship tool for performing surgical interventions in Italy. The first test was a real one success: now we will try to introduce it in knee surgeries and hip replacements.
The visor to operate the eyes
In many universities around the world, technological viewers produced by Apple, Sony, Microsoft and many other companies are already used to prepare medical students for the operating room. These tools, in fact, can simulate an intervention so as to avoid subjecting a real patient to the hands of an inexperienced new graduate. But it is now clear that viewers do not only have the “gift” of simulation and that they could become a 100% part of operating rooms. For now, in Italy, the viewer Apple Vision Pro has recently been used for two different eye surgeries, inCatania hospital. What was the role of the viewer? During a lower eyelid correction performed on a 60-year-old patient and a healing blepharoplasty on another person, the Apple Vision Pro allowed photographs to be taken that remained in overlay on the virtual screen so that ophthalmologists could compare the progress of the two operations step by step.
How the viewer is made
This technology that introduces the virtual reality in operating rooms it looks like a ski mask. The price of this Apple tool is much higher than the headsets produced by other companies, but it works really well. It has everything 12 cameras which allow you to do anything: watch a film on the bus, follow a recipe while cooking, get traffic information in any city. In medicine it is already used to involve those doctors who are on the other side of the world and need to learn what happens in Western operating rooms. The next step, given the success achieved, is to make this technology available in as many hospitals as possible.
