IVREA – Fear yesterday morning, Wednesday 1 May 2024, in front of the Ivrea railway station where a «Vita Group» bus hit the stop shelter with its side during the parking maneuver, bending the structure by approximately 30 degrees. The vehicle, one of those used as a replacement service for the Ivrea-Aosta railway (closed for electrification works) bent the entire structure, about eighty meters long. The people who were nearby, frightened by the loud noise, quickly moved away: no one was involved.

The area was cordoned off and prohibited to users after the intervention of local police officers. The structure will be repaired and made usable within a few days. Added to the problem of the shelter in recent days is the closure of the sidewalk in front of the station (on the other side of the road) which significantly complicates life for pedestrians.

City councilor Massimiliano De Stefano (Action-Italia Viva) launches an appeal via social media: «These are events that can happen, there is no blame, a policy that decides and takes responsibility is welcome. But objectively, what is happening in a very busy area between vehicles and pedestrians is unbelievable, at times surreal. Please restore the pavement and move the departure of the buses to Aosta to the only place where they should have been from day one, the Movicentro station, built with taxpayers’ money to encourage interchange and decongest city traffic. Three years is a long time and unpleasant things can still happen” (photos posted by Massimiliano De Stefano).
