Arrest for theft in Terni: 67-year-old with long criminal past arrested

On the night that separates April 30th from May 1st, the State Police of Terni placed handcuffs on the wrists of a 67-year-old man originally from Campania, already known to the police for numerous criminal records. The arrest took place immediately after the man had committed a theft in a garage located in the Borgo Rivo district.

The Flying Squad officers were alerted thanks to a report received by the Operations Room, which indicated the presence of a suspicious car near some garages. Once on site, the police noticed the car described, parked in front of a garage, with the key still in the ignition and the engine hot. Just then, they surprised the man as he left the garage carrying several objects with him.

The 67-year-old was immediately stopped for a check. Among the objects he had with him were tools such as a hammer drill, two grinders and a motor pump, as well as drink cans. On his person, the man had burglary tools such as screwdrivers and swords, as well as a torch.

The inspection of the car revealed further objects of dubious origin, including a bicycle, an electric chainsaw, a bag containing sports clothing, three fishing rods, foodstuffs and an industrial electrical cable. The man was unable to justify the presence of these objects, nor the reason why he was in that area at that time.

The owner of the garage recognized and claimed ownership of the objects found outside her garage, proceeding with the complaint to the police station shortly after the incident.

From the checks carried out, it emerged that the 67-year-old already had a long history of crimes behind him, including theft, receiving stolen goods and even attempted murder. After the arrest, the case was reported to the Public Prosecutor on duty, who opted for a direct trial. The judge therefore decided to compel the 67-year-old to reside in the residence in the province of Naples, as a precautionary measure.
