‘The beauty that recreates’ is the title of the initiative proposed by Nazareno social cooperative

“We want to send a message of hope in a world beset by many, too many, wars”: Sergio Zini, president of Nazareno cooperative social of Carpi, summarized with these words the message that the 26th edition of the International Festival of Different Abilities – which kicks off in the next few days – wants to send. “The beauty that recreates” – this is the leitmotif of the Festival which last year reached the halfway point of a quarter of a century – wants to reiterate that the concept of “normality” is decidedly subjective and that first of all no one can exist unless together with the others. “This is scientific evidence – claimed Zini – which contradicts the current world which pushes towards increasingly unbridled individualism”. The Festival, which will have various types of moments in Carpi, Correggio, Sassuolo and Bologna, will start with the first public event on Monday 6 May and will end on Tuesday 4 June.

The program of the initiative was presented in the morning by Simona Famulari, organizational manager of the 2024 edition of the Festival. “Thirteen events on the calendar – he announced – which include sports matches, book presentations, shows, concerts and conferences”. After an opening religious celebration which will be held on Sunday in the Corpus Domini church, the Festival opens in Correggio (Teatro Asioli) with “Open Festival”, a multidisciplinary competition aimed at artists and emerging companies in the fields of theatre, dance and photography and other artistic expressions. On May 9th we return to Carpi with a meeting-concert with the cellist Giulia Mazza and the pianist Filippo Visentin, musicians both suffering from serious hearing problems. As part of the Festival, there will also be a training course recognized by the Order of Journalists of Emilia Romagna (Saturday 11 May Auditorium San Rocco), a theatrical show at the Comunale in Carpi and a musical one at the Carani in Sassuolo.

The basketball player also took part in the presentation of the Festival calendar via teleconference Marco Calamai and the writer Maria Giulia Cotini who will be protagonists of two of the scheduled events. The complete program of events and shows can be found on the website festivalinternazionaleabilitadifferenti.it.
