From 5 to 7 July, for the fourth year, it returns to Bari Seafront Of Books. The municipal council has in fact approved the holding of the cultural event which, as is now tradition, is hosted in the old city and along the Wall, from Largo Vito Maurogiovanni to Fortino Sant’Antonio, up to Piazza del Ferrarese. The Apulian capital will therefore be transformed into an open-air bookshop thanks to the presence of local booksellers and publishers, but also of authors from all over Italy. The theme chosen is ‘The memory of the sea’, as the Municipality explains in a note, that is «a metaphor of mobility, travel, adventure and migration and an opportunity to reflect on a series of dichotomies such as emerged and submerged, surface and abyss, fear and fun.”
25 bookstores involved
Around 25 bookshops in the Bari area and over thirty publishers from Puglia are taking part in the event, plus many guests to discuss books and emerging themes of contemporary literature. Lungomare di Libri is promoted by the Municipality of Bari in collaboration with the Presìdi del libro association, with the support of the Puglia Region and the organizational support of the Turin International Book Fair. «Authors will return to Bari with their stories – explains Piero Crocenzi, managing director of the Book Fair -. It is always valuable for the Salon to bring its voice outside of Piedmont, involving booksellers, publishers and the entire publishing chain in occasions of debate for readers from all over Italy.”
