Tarros and Messina together again to increase connections between Italy-Libya-Egypt with the new LEX service, active with two ships starting from mid-June 2024 approximately every 12 days. It will call at Italian, Libyan and one Egyptian ports: Salerno – La Spezia – Genoa – Tripoli – Misurata – Alexandria – Benghazi – Salerno. In this case it will be a Vessels Sharing Agreement service through the use of two lo-lo container ships, one from Messina and one from Tarros, with a capacity each of approximately 1,150/1,200 14 ton TEUs. Tarros, on the same service, will also call the ports of Malta and Augusta as a “private call”.

As is evident, the new maritime line takes on a very particular geo-political and commercial significance: it marks in all respects the reopening of the Libyan market also from Southern Europe as well as from the areas beyond Suez, a market in which Ignazio Messina & C boasts a historic presence, the north-bound connection between Egypt and Italy will be reactivated, traffic between Alexandria and Benghazi will also be developed and, finally, Libya and Egypt will be connected through the Alexandria and Genoa hubs. also with all the other markets served by Ignazio Messina & C. Simultaneously with the opening of this Infra-Mediterranean service, Messina will begin to call the port of Alexandria on a north-bound basis with the ships of the Middle-East service offering a stopover direct for traffic coming from the regions of India, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
