TERAMO – Scents and flavors mix in the air, but for AISM there is an aroma that stands out: that of solidarity. From thyme to lemon thyme, from oregano to rosemary, through marjoram and sage: these are the AISM aromatic herbs that will be the protagonists in the squares on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May. A riot of colors and fragrances to embellish domestic environments and enrich the dishes of our kitchen. AISM volunteers will be present in the solidarity points, distributing kits containing a selection of two aromatic herb plants in exchange for a donation of 12 euros. The proceeds from AISM Aromatic Herbs will concretely contribute to implementing assistance services for people with multiple sclerosis and related pathologies, as well as supporting scientific research. What is MS. Chronic, unpredictable and disabling, multiple sclerosis is one of the most serious diseases of the central nervous system. 50% of people with MS are young and not yet 40 years old. It affects women twice as often as men. In Italy there are 137 thousand people with multiple sclerosis, 3,600 new cases every year: 1 every 3 hours. The cause and the definitive cure have not yet been found but thanks to the progress made by scientific research, there are therapies and treatments capable of slowing down the progression of multiple sclerosis and improving the quality of life of people with MS. Among the pathologies related to MS there is neuromyelitis optica (NMO), which has a framework of health and social care needs and interventions similar to MS.
