A bad first quarter, with 31 points conceded, forces Velcofin Interlocks Vicenza to defeat in game 2 against Tecnoengeneering Moncalieri. A defeat that is justified by Vicenza’s bad shooting day (20/62) combined with an excellent performance by the home team, who shoots well from three (8/16) and wins the rebounding battle again (46-38) . Now, Sturma and her teammates are awaiting a decisive game 3.
As we said, the first ten minutes are decisive. After a point-to-point start, with Belosevic and Peserico on top, Moncalieri steps on the accelerator and finds a 13-0 run that directs the match. Giordano was decisive, protagonist of the break with 8 points. Vitari tries to start the comeback, but the first ten minutes end with Velcofin 14 down (31-17).
The greater defensive attention in the second quarter had little effect. In the first four minutes, Moncalieri never finds the target, but the red and whites only compile a 5-0 mini-break. Tecnoengineering finds rhythm in attack and manages to get back ahead by 17 (42-25). At the long break the score is 44-30.
Vicenza’s comeback attempt in the second half had no effect. Velcofin gets back to a maximum of -11 (48-37), but Moncalieri is good at not giving space to the Vicenza team. Therefore, the score does not undergo any particular upheavals, until 70-58 with which the contest ends.
Now game 3 becomes decisive: Velcofin cannot make mistakes if they want to immediately keep their place in A2, without having to go to the second play-out round. It promises to be an exciting challenge. Tap-off on Sunday, at the Città di Vicenza sports hall, at 8.30pm.
