The Department at the Turin International Book Fair

The Department of Civil Protection participates for the second consecutive year in the Turin International Book Fair, scheduled at Lingotto Fiere from Thursday 9th to Monday 13th May 2024. The inspiration behind the XXXVI edition of the Show is Imaginary lifea multi-faceted theme that offers civil protection the opportunity to tell its story not only through its own story, but also starting from the stories of others.

The stand of the Department is located in Oval Pavilion and is divided into an exhibition area and a talk area.

In the exhibition part, visitors will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of civil protection thanks to a timeline which traces its evolution through the country’s major emergencies. But also to discover the stories beyond history.

On the occasion of the Show, the Department will launch eQuiLIBRIthe project to build a civil protection library open to different languages ​​and literary genres and implemented with everyone’s contribution. In fact, the first selection of titles presented on the Department’s stand will be joined by books suggested by visitors who want to participate with their reading advice.

In line with this project, the talk area will host a series of conversations, organized in collaboration with Lucy, with the aim of creating a space for discussion between authors and experts on civil protection issues starting from different points of view and perspectives. First guest Nicola Lagioia who, on Friday 10 May at 11.00, will present the events of the following days together with the Deputy Head of the Department Titti Postiglione, which will see the participation of Marco Rossari, Nadia Terranova, Donatella Di Pietrantonio, Francesca Mannocchi, Rossella Postorino.

In the stand will also take place thematic meetings which will range from poetry, with Franco Arminio, to art, with Michelangelo Pistoletto, passing through comics, with Roberto Gagnor and Mattia Surroz.

The Department also participates in the program of events organized by the Show with the meeting Between risks and sustainability: let’s imagine our future togethera topic on which the Head of the Civil Protection Department will discuss Fabrizio Curcio and Nicola Lagioia. The event, moderated by Giusi Fasano, will take place on Sunday 12 May at 10.45 in Pavilion 1, Sala Rosa.

Finally, specific activities are planned within the Bookstock, the space that the Show dedicates to schools to share, grow and experiment. The Department’s initiatives aim to accompany young visitors to discover the risks of the area and the small but great choices to experience it consciously starting from comics The decisive moment: project I don’t take risks aimed at students which, for the Fair, will become the fulcrum of creative reading sessions and fun laboratory activities.

The International Book Fair is open to the public on Thursday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 8pm. Friday and Saturday from 10am to 9pm.
