The Swan’s Road in Catania

Friday 3 May 2024, at 5.30pm, the Contemporary Catania /FIC Festival and for the occasion, in the historic center of Catania, it takes place The Swan’s Road, a Dancing Parade organized by the SicilyMade Collective.

Dancing parade aimed at the inhabitants of the Catania community: citizens, dancers, performers, students, and anyone who wants to participate.
The project aims to create a citizen movement through a reflection on the concept of repertoire, the theme of the 5th edition of Contemporary Catania /FIC Festival.
A training course whose performative outcome is the parade planned through the streets of the city of Catania, to inaugurate the festival.

The inspiration comes from the iconic solo The Dying Swan.
What remains today of a choreographic work considered a milestone of 20th century Western dance? The project aims to retrace the fascination of a unique repertoire piece, involving Catania in a journey of rediscovery. The parade thus becomes a collective choreographic action, a symbol of change and a reason for connection with the community. Through a common alphabet of gestures that reinterpret The Dying Swan in a fresh and provocative way, we will meet together for a participatory experience, an inclusive journey that invades the streets of the city to share a message of peace through art.
