In both the men’s and women’s Open races, the bearers of Team Sogno Veneto dominate. Martino Zavan beat the namesake Martino Fruet and teammate Lorenzo Lazzaretti, while Lucrezia Braida preceded Beatrice Fontana and Gaia Santin

A few sporadic drops of rain did not ruin the celebration ofXC Between the Towers 2024which this year has returned to be based in the center of Farra di Soligoin the heart of the splendid Prosecco hillsUNESCO heritage.

On a renewed route, according to many, harder than in the past but slightly less technical, they challenged each other 350 bikers, divided between the Open, junior, students, beginners and Master categories. The circuit measured 3.8km and it was quite demanding from an altimetric point of view, with a climb at the beginning of the route (about 1.3 km long) which included almost all the positive difference in altitude of the ring, a central part enlivened by a fun single track in the middle of the vineyards, and a finale that took you back to the village via a rather technical descent. The last 800 meters on asphalt led the bikers to the finish line in Farra di Soligo.

The one who celebrated the most was the Team Sogno Veneto, which won the two most anticipated races, the Open ones. Among the men, the man from Treviso raised his arms to the sky Martino Zavanwhich made the difference right from the first of the six scheduled rounds, and separated the timeless Martin Fruet (Lapierre-Trentino-Alé) and his teammate at 1’34”. Lorenzo Lazzaretti, winner of the cross country two years ago. Even clearer, however, is the dominance of Lucrezia Braida among the women, who clocked 2’45” a Beatrice Fontana and 5’53” y Gaia Santinboth from the Lee Cougan Branca Prealpi San Biagio team.

“I’m fine and today I proved it – he said Zavan20 years -. The other day I finished 7th at the Caneva International and today I wanted to win. The initial climb was quite steep and made the ride selective, but the leg turned well. Now the home international awaits me on Montello and I really hope to bring home a good result, showing the best version of myself”.

Even the 19 year old Lucrezia Braida he had finished in 7th place at the Caneva International: “I wanted to start strong, I did, and then I managed to keep a high pace for all 5 laps – explained the athlete of Team Sogno Veneto -. I’m really happy with my performance, this is an old style route, where you have to push a lot uphill. The sensations are good and this year I want to try to improve last year’s season, in terms of placings and sensations. The start was very good.”

L’AC Col San Martino thus also archived the 17th edition of the XC Tra le Torri: “By moving the start and finish to Farra di Soligo we wanted to bring the event more among the people and I think we partly succeeded, even if we can always do better – said the President Mario De Rosso -. The fact of being in the middle between the Caneva and Montello Internationals probably didn’t help in terms of participation, but overall it still turned out to be a good show. A huge thank you, as always, to all those who worked hard to make the event a success.”
