VARZI (PV) – From September Varzi will have his own hotel school. A historic achievement for the Oltrepò Pavese area, which will finally be able to count on a new training center dedicated to food and wine and tourist hospitality. Sixteen students have already joined the new course, demonstrating great interest in this rapidly growing sector at provincial level. A significant number that represents a solid starting point for the new school, born from an idea shared at a local level and supported by numerous local authorities, including the Comunità Montana, the Gal, the Slow Food Convivium of Oltrepo Pavese and the Pavia Chamber of Commerce.
“It’s an extraordinary result for our area” – comments the Mayor of Varzi and President of the Province, Giovanni Palliwho strongly believed in this project from the beginning. “The activation of this course represents an important opportunity for young people in the area, who will be able to train professionally in a sector with great employment opportunities”.
The Oltrepò Pavese boasts an excellent food and wine heritage, which attracts thousands of tourists every year. The new Varzi hotel school aims to further enhance this heritage, training highly qualified professionals capable of responding to the needs of the job market. The course will last five years and will be divided into a common two-year period and a three-year specialization period in three areas: cooking, dining and bar, tourist reception. Students will have the opportunity to follow theoretical and laboratory lessons, as well as carry out internships at the best companies in the sector.
“The establishment of this course is a fundamental step for the economic and social development of our territory” – underlines the Headmaster of the Omnicomprehensive Institute of Varzi, Umberto Dallocchio. “Thanks to the synergy between institutions, businesses and local associations, we have managed to create a high-quality training offer that will allow young people to find rewarding and well-paid work”
