Letters to Iacchite’: “Crotone and the degree course in Medicine”

Dear director,

just yesterday I came across a person who claimed that no degree course in Medicine would be established in Crotone, after a heated discussion (she is from Crotone, I am from Rende), she sent me on WhatsApp, an article from some some time ago published by Iacchité, signed by Antonella Policastrese (https://www.iacchite.blog/crotone-luniversita-perduta/) which contains obvious falsehoods.

Which reminded me of a maxim by Marcus Aurelius who claims that the false contents of the mind can be erased thanks to a faculty given to us by Nature, simply by “observing things in their actual reality”.

And the actual reality that the great Master talks to us about in the book “The art of knowing oneself”, is that the rectors of Catanzaro and Cosenza have prevented (I don’t know whether voluntarily or not) the lords of private healthcare (Calabrian and national) to have at their disposal a medical faculty managed by private individuals. This reason would be enough to support the attempt of the two rectors to open Medicine in Crotone.

The process, from what I have personally seen, is progressing. It is not true, in fact, that the notice was not issued (https://web.unicz.it/it/news/108397/competition-notice-for-admission-to-courses-master’s degree-in-medicine-e-chirurgia-lm-41-dentistry-and-prosthetics-dental-lm-46-and-course-of-master’s degree-in-medicine-e-surgery-and-technologies-digital-lm-41-aa-2024-2025).

The Calabrians who want an efficient public health system open to all at the expense of the State should support the institution of Medicine in Crotone and make their voice heard, so that in October 2024 the first students of the new degree course can be welcomed in the city Pythagorean.
