As part of the “Victory of legality” project promoted by the Ragusa branch of Confcooperative, the initiatives continue which see the students of the 3A applied sciences of the Mazzini scientific high school in Vittoria as protagonists. The students led by Professor Fausto Senia, tutor within the PCTO, former school-work alternation, were received, in the presence of the territorial president of Confcooperative Ragusa, Luca Campisi, and the area manager, Emanuele Lo Presti, by the Municipality of Vittoria . Doing the honours, in the Quarto stato room of Palazzo Iacono where the students were hosted, were the mayor Francesco Aiello and the deputy Giuseppe Fiorellini, with the councilor for public education Francesca Corbino.
The project, followed by Alessia Fazzi, a civil service volunteer activated by Confcooperative, included a series of class meetings on the topic of legality, with particular reference to the management of assets confiscated from the mafias, as well as on that of active citizenship which was possible to express it even better with visits to the social cooperatives Nostra Signora di Gulfi in Chiaramonte and Proxima in Ragusa. Furthermore, the students promoted a cognitive survey, through the administration of a questionnaire, aimed at an age group between 14 and 26 to identify their needs and critical issues. “Two needs in particular have emerged – underlines President Campisi – that of increasing sports facilities on the one hand and that of creating a center for youth cultural aggregation and socialisation. An important moment of discussion that marked irreplaceable social growth.” “We ensured that the Municipality – continues Lo Presti – could be delivered this package of proposals, these project ideas which we hope can be taken into consideration for a future implementation”. Deputy mayor Fiorellini comments: “Once again we have had the opportunity to deal with the “youth issue” which is the great challenge of complexity, which we take on as a great political and institutional question. Today we are called upon by girls and boys to give the right response, that is to recognize citizenship for their protagonism and not the easy pre-packaged one dropped from above”.
