Cinque Terre, Val di Vara, Montemarcello: 99 excursions along the coast and in the La Spezia hinterland end up in a book
Descriptive text here

New book dedicated to the La Spezia area. This is volume 6 “Cinque Terre, Val di Vara, Montemarcello”, which finally completes the “Appennino” series (see www.parodieditore.it). It is the first time that the Ligurian Apennines have been described entirely in such detail, in a series of six volumes, which range from the Béigua massif between Genoa and Savona, up to the reliefs of the extreme Ligurian East on the border with Tuscany and ‘Emilia. Like the two previous volumes “Genoese Apennines” and “Golfo Paradiso, Portofino, Tigullio”, the last one in the series was also born from the now tested collaboration between the veteran Andrea Parodi and the young Andrea Ferrando, a passionate explorer of lost paths, known on the web under the pseudonym of Appenninista.

The new book it is dedicated to excursions in the province of La Spezia and surrounding areas, starting from the coast of the Cinque Terre and then entering the hinterland, which corresponds almost entirely with the vast and branched Val di Vara. The result is a notable variety of routes, which range from the edges of the sea to the 1639 m of Monte Góttero, the highest peak in the eastern Ligurian Apennines. In addition to the most well-known and popular paths, the book describes many other little-known ones, which could be pleasant discoveries for hikers who love the less traveled routes. For the vast majority these are itineraries that can be done in one day. The Alta Via del Golfo and the Via dei Monti are exceptions, two beautiful multi-day treks, described in the last two chapters. The numbering of the itineraries stops at 99, but, counting the many variations and deviations, the routes described in the book are many more. As well as in bookstores, it can be purchased online (www.parodieditore.it) or by calling the publisher (347 6702 312).
