“I was pleased to see the glorious shirt of our Cesena Calcio donated to the President of the Region Stefano Bonaccini. Especially in this beautiful season, which culminated with the return to Serie B, it is always a pride to see the highest political institutions – from the right as well as the left – celebrate the black and white jersey. The episode, however, brought to mind an afternoon in June 2019, when – on the occasion of my last electoral rally – we donated that same jacket to a Minister of the Republic”. This was stated by Andrea Rossi (leader of the Cambiamo civic list group)

“On that occasion – Rossi recalls – the episode did not go unnoticed and, from the fiefdoms of the left, anathemas and excommunications arose. “The shirt cannot be exploited” was the catechesis of the moment, as if giving the shirt of your city to a high representative of the Government was a gesture of lèse majesté. The elections, in that case, were just around the corner, but this time too the call to the ballot box is not far away given that, as is known, Stefano Bonaccini will be a candidate in the European elections of next June”.

The leader of Cambiamo continues: “In this case, however, no one thought it necessary to say a word, considering the gift of the shirt a normal liturgy. To tell the truth, I absolutely agree with the gesture because Bonaccini is a representative of our institutions and the exchange of pennants is nothing scandalous. Today, like five years ago, I consider the Cesena shirt a symbol of this land, like piadina and Sangiovese. Donating it is a gesture of friendship but also of pride towards history of this team in which all people from Cesena identify. only a football fetish but a cultural heritage of our entire community. It is the “double standards” that, if anything, clash and confirm to us that, in this city, ethics is a clockwork concept. He strikes only when it’s convenient…”.
