The third Sardinian Nautical Fair kicks off in Porto Rotondo

From Piazza Krizia, surrounded by the stands of artisanal and food and wine excellences of Insula Sardinia Quality World, the third edition of the “Nautical Fair of Sardinia” kicked off, hosted, for the second year, by the village and the Marina of Porto Rotondo. Ribbon cutting graced by improved weather conditions, the opening ceremony was attended by the highest institutional and religious authorities and the rectors of the Universities of Sassari and Cagliari.

He blesses the start of the tourist season and brings greetings from President Alessandra Todde, the Vice President of the Region, Giuseppe Meloni, who had the task of opening the speeches from the stage.

Priority investing in the sector: nautical, said Gianni Sarti, president of Cipnes (promoter and organizer of the event) «is a sector on which the Region must focus together with culture and archaeology.

Great challenge of this territory, continued the Mayor of Olbia, Settimo Nizzi. «We will continue to focus on events like this and to improve the quality of life of the hamlet of Porto Rotondo», said the mayor, thanking Cipnes, «we urge the management of the Navy to invest, as it is already doing, increasingly in the infrastructures of Port”. Also on stage was Matteo Molinas, junior general manager of the Porto Rotondo Marina and new president of the “Port Network”, who recalled his winter work in the major national and international fairs in search of contacts «to lay the foundations of an event in growth that can be enriched with new contents”.

The numbers give rise to hope, as explained by the organizing director, Angelo Colombo. «One hundred and eighty boats and 156 stands on land are record figures», he states, «together with the many in-depth talks and collateral events; they are the fruit of everyone’s great work.”

Franco Cuccureddu, regional councilor for Tourism, closes with a commitment: «Sardinia is perceived as a tourist region, in reality the contribution that tourism gives to the Sardinian GDP is 8 percent, 3/4 points less than tourism to the Italian GDP – he said – our commitment will be to enhance our products, bring out the black and enhance the nautical and its shipbuilding industry, an important segment of our offer. In this way we will be able to make Sardinia a true tourist destination.”

In the five days of the Fair, which ends on Sunday 5 May, the role of the territorial marketing program “Insula” is no less central, which has been entrusted with the reception and evening entertainment with cooking shows, shows and fashion shows: intercepting “experiential” tourism travelers with the offer of the island’s excellence, the objective of director Massimo Masia who aims to make nautical enthusiasts discover the lesser-known Sardinia. Entry is free from 10am until late in the evening.
