“Once again we are witnessing the usual paradox that this city seems to be fond of by now: record numbers at the Palace, on the other hand an empty city and decidedly incapable of welcoming. Tourists are “forced” to stay in the area for the bare minimum, lacking entirely a tourism chain that enhances the territory and would allow for greater permanence in the area and consequently favor a recovery of the local economy. A total failure.” This is what Maurizio Del Rosso, city councilor and city secretary of the League, declares.
For the Salvinian “there is no strategy, there is no serious control room on tourism. And I find the statements of the municipal administration, which celebrates the fabulous numbers of the Palace on social media, truly embarrassing. The councilor for culture Enzo Battarra says verbatim: ” We put Belvedere and Casertavecchia in it”, as if the mere presence of UNESCO heritage assets in the city were enough and were the result of their strategic work. But what are the promotional actions? Battarra himself, in a report on Tg3, downloads the blame on traders because they “have to increase the influx of tourists”. Yet tourism, in the city of Vanvitelli’s Royal Palace, should be a serious thing.
