At the microphones of Antenna Sud, Taranto’s attacking winger Francesco Orlando he spoke about the team’s championship and the upcoming playoffs. Here are his words:
On the Taranto championship: ”We had a great championship. We did something unimaginable. When I arrived at the beginning of the season I knew that the coach had created an excellent team but I didn’t think about these levels. We are a great group both on and off the pitch. We only lost two games at home, showing that we were great in our stadium. We must say thank you to our fans and they could be our additional weapon for the play offs”.
On the Taranto group: ”There is mutual respect between everyone. Both between us players and with the technical area. And then there is harmony and cohesion between us. The strength of this team was precisely the group and we bring it onto the pitch during the matches with great conviction”
More on the rossoblù championship and on the personal season: ”Only Juve Stabia really did better than us. However, we proved that we were not inferior to anyone and we competed with everyone, especially at home. The most difficult moment was after the match lost against Casertana where we didn’t do our best but then we united more, we brought out the best and we put criticism and problems behind us. The best moment for me was that last goal against Monterosi. It was really beautiful. Beautiful emotion because it was made right in Iacovone in our stadium. Playing not a lot at the beginning I had a hard time but then I understood the coach’s strategies because he always saw me as a player who rocks matches. Every time I took to the pitch I always tried to give my best for the team”
More on his season: ”There’s a hint of pride in having played with my hometown team. Now comes the best part with these play offs and who knows, let’s see. I’m very happy with this season and I’m happy to have played a good number of games anyway. When I enter the pitch I always try not to disappoint anyone, friends and relatives who are at the stadium. Now maximum concentration for the play offs. I was left out of the squad at Salernitana and I knew that there were three teams after me and Taranto was there. Mister Capuano called me and in two days we did everything. I knew that there was Vannucchi in Taranto who I had known for some time. I didn’t even think about it for a moment. I wanted Taranto”
On the play offs: ‘‘We play it with everyone. We did a lot to be there and we want to do the best we can. I fear Avellino in these play offs because objectively they are a strong opponent with important players. We will see.”
