On the morning of 24 April last, in Telese Terme, during a police operation aimed at combating the phenomenon of drug dealing, personnel from the local police station, with the help of anti-drug canine units from the Naples Police Headquarters, carried out various house searches at the homes of some Roma families, settled in Telese Terme, dedicated to dealing drugs of various kinds and living in two buildings used as public housing.
During the activities, inside one of the homes, a 43-year-old woman, subjected to house arrest, attempted to hinder the search by engaging in both verbal and physical obstructionism. At this juncture, the cohabiting son, taking advantage of the moment of confusion specifically created by the woman, attempted, without success, to stealthily enter his bedroom. Suspicious of this behaviour, the police station staff inspected the room and thanks to the decisive contribution of “Evan”, the dog led by the canine unit, found some narcotic substance kept in a black bag in a corner of the adjoining balcony. Inside the bag were found two plastic containers containing a quantity of gr. 5.06 of cocaine and gr. 4,918 of crack, as well as two precision scales, various materials necessary for packaging as well as various lighters for heat sealing the individual doses. In the same bedroom, in a bedside table next to the bed, 965 euros were found. The man, therefore, was referred to the judicial authority for possession for the purpose of dealing while the drugs, the sum of money and the goods found were seized.
Subsequently, we proceeded to inspect the premises of the building, where 6,972 grams of narcotic substance of the hashish type and a precision scale were found and seized from unknown persons.
A further search, carried out in another apartment in the building, led to the discovery of a small quantity of hashish, contained in a cellophane bag hidden in the pocket of the homeowner’s jacket. The latter was reported to the Prefecture of Benevento for possession of a narcotic substance for personal use.
It is represented that the persons subjected to preliminary investigations are presumed innocent until a final sentence is reached.
