He was the first to bring the Boeing that will be based at Tito Minniti for Ryanair to Reggio Calabria airport: commander Loris Tripodi, originally from Reggio Calabria and away from his city for years, took the opportunity to return and the images of the arrival of his plane on the eve of the launch of the new routes went viral on social media.
Now his story is told by Cap Calabria, a flight school in Stignano. The association’s Facebook page retraces the career of the talented pilot, who shares the pride of debuting the highly anticipated low cost in Reggio with a Calabrian colleague, the Lametina Maura Scalercio, Boeing’s first officer.
Commander Tripodi inherited his passion for the skies from his father, a former Alitalia employee. At a very young age, Loris obtained his civil flying license at the Strait flying club and there, right next to the Tito Minniti, he began to operate the control stick. He then decides to test himself with a very ambitious goal, to become a military pilot: he attempts the very difficult competition and comes out victorious. Thus he began a brilliant career, with the move to America. In Pensacola, Florida, he obtained his American military pilot’s license and when he finally repatriated he was assigned to the embarked combat helicopters. His profession led him to participate in numerous missions around the world, until he chose to switch to airliners. For years he has worked in the Ryanair workforce in Palermo and Marsala, bringing his family with him, consisting of his wife and a young son. But this summer the Irish company gave him a wonderful surprise by landing in Reggio Calabria and entrusting him with the role of commander of the 737 and base captain (the head of the pilots) to Tito Minniti. Happiness for Tripodi and his loved ones, who return to the shores of the Strait with the commitment to grow the Reggio airport, to which the commander is emotionally attached because his flying adventure began right here.
