Taekwondo, Alessandro Magistro from Foggia is vice champion of Italy

The young Alessandro Magistro, junior black belt of the Foggia Taekwondo Center, is vice champion of Italy.

He won the silver medal at the 2024 Italian Taekwondo Championships which took place in Rome on 26, 27 and 28 April.

On the last day, after three matches that attracted the attention of the spectators at the PalaTiziano, with some rounds ending with a maximum point difference (12 to be exact), in the final he was stopped by just one point of difference, he won the silver medal.

An excellent result, despite the understandable disappointment of not finishing first place. But the second step of the podium also attracts the attention of central federal circles, a prelude to future commitments.

Not to mention that Alessandro Magistro, already called up to the Apulian regional team, together with the other junior athlete of Team Smiraglia Ludovica De Vito, will participate in the selection in Bari on Saturday 11 May for participation in the Dream Cup, a national competition that will take place in Rome, at Foro Italico, reserved, in fact, for regional teams.

At the Palatiziano, the Foggia Taekwondo Center also won another medal, a bronze, which went to Rosemilia Mazza, senior athlete, defeated in the semi-final by the athlete who then won the highest step in the category.

This season also has another important event in store for Rosemilia: the university championships which will be held in Campobasso on 19 May and which offer interesting prospects.

To all the boys who train constantly and with long-lasting objectives goes the applause of their tireless Master Ugo Smiraglia, who brought many athletes into the national team, after his long experience in the Italian team. Just 40 years ago the Palatiziano saw Master Ugo Smiraglia, a member of the Italian Taekwondo national team, challenge the feared Korean national team with all the others in the team. He also came second. Perhaps a sign of destiny.
