The Board of Directors of the Appia Traiana Francigena Association has been renewed: Michele Piccirillo re-elected President, the Arch. Ilaria Pecoraro Vice President and Maria Franca Mangano secretary-treasurer

The elective phase of the assembly of the Appia Traiana Francigena Association was successfully concluded, during which the new Board of Directors was elected for the three-year period 2024-2027. Michele Piccirillo was confirmed at the helm of the Association, while the Arch. Ilaria Pecoraro assumes the role of Vice President.

The climate of collaboration and sharing that characterized the election allowed the presentation of an ambitious program that will engage the Association on multiple fronts over the next three years. Among the main objectives, there is the protection and promotion of the official route of the Via Francigena, recognized in the “Cultural Itineraries Program of the Council of Europe”, as well as its development as an emotional and experiential tourist product. In this context, the Association is also committed to valorising stages 27 – from Torre Canne to Torre Santa Sabina and “Stage 36 – Variant – from Torre Canne to Torre Santa Sabina” of the Via Francigena in order to enrich the experience of pilgrims and travelers along the route. The Association is also committed to supporting territorial projects aimed at promoting knowledge and use of the Route, with the aim of increasing slow and sustainable tourism and enhancing the rich tangible and intangible heritage of the territory crossed.

The re-elected President underlined the key points of his program, focusing on consolidating relationships with other associations to promote coordinated and incisive actions. Our association, affiliated with the “Friends of the Via Francigena”, operates on a non-profit basis and dedicates its activities to supporting the broader project to valorise the Vie Francigena. Our proposal includes closer collaboration with other entities in the area, both private and public, which share the objective of knowledge, conservation and valorization of the cultural heritage linked to the pilgrimage routes.

The new Board of Directors is composed as follows:

Michele Piccirillo, President

Arch. Ilaria Pecoraro, Vice President

Maria Franca Mangano, Secretary-Treasurer

Marco Carani, Councilor

Claudio Ciola, Councilor

Antonella Golia, Councilor

Maria Concetta Nacci, Councilor

Giovanni Pannofino, Councilor
