Agnone, 21 May 2024 – Bitter surprise this morning for the owner of the commercial business “La Masseria”, located in the center of via Matteotti in Agnone. As per spring custom, the city’s shops decorate the street with vases of flowers, creating a colorful and welcoming atmosphere for residents and tourists.
This year, as usual, the owner of La Masseria had placed some flowering plants, tying a vase with ropes to a tree located right in front of her shop. However, this morning, she was faced with an unpleasant surprise: the pot was still hanging, but the flowering plant had been uprooted, leaving only soil and dangling ropes.
“It was a blow to the heart to see the empty vase”, declared the owner “It is not so much the economic value of the plant, which costs only a few euros, but the gesture itself which is unacceptable. It is an act of vandalism which affects the community and our commitment to making our country more beautiful.”
This episode has sparked indignation among local traders and citizens, who see this gesture as an offense to the collective work aimed at improving the aesthetics of the historic center. “We all need more respect for common goods and for the work of others,” commented another shopkeeper in the area.
The local authorities have been informed of the incident and are working to identify those responsible for this act of vandalism. In the meantime, the community rallies around the owner of La Masseria, expressing solidarity and proposing to help replant new flowers to bring the course back to life.
This incident once again raises the issue of security and surveillance in public areas, with many residents calling for greater control to prevent further vandalism.
Despite the bitterness of the moment, the owner of La Masseria does not allow herself to be discouraged: “I will continue to contribute to making our country more beautiful, because I firmly believe that aesthetics and care for our environment are a reflection of our community”.
