The space dedicated to Paolo Ravenna used as a bicycle park

In January 2018 the city of Ferrara, on the proposal of the family and the city section of Italia Nostra, dedicated a space along Corso Ercole I d’Este to Paolo Ravenna to, according to Italia Nostra, “honor his memory and to keep alive the memory of how much the late fellow citizen did for the cultural and civil growth of our city”.

“A particularly significant place was chosen – they say –: an enlargement of the most beautiful and important street in the city, designed by the architect Carlo Melograni, together with the project of the new ‘Ariosto’ classical high school, in the early seventies of the twentieth century”. It is no coincidence that “Dani Karavan proposed this place, with part of the garden behind the wall, to place the memorial in honor of Giorgio Bassani, a work which, sooner or later, we hope some far-sighted Administration will carry out (the model of the project is deposited and permanently exhibited at the Meis)”.

“Now – reports Italia Nostra -, suddenly, this very delicate space has become a bicycle storage area”. A new function that the association believes “a serious lack of respect for the memory of Paolo Ravenna” and thus “strongly requests that the structures placed to support the bicycles, which improperly occupy the entire space, be promptly removed”.
