President Marsilio’s comment

“Abruzzo, as official data certifies, is on the right track for employment growth”. The president of the regional council, Marco Marsilio comments on the data released by Istat and Anpal.

“We are on the right track, the certified data demonstrate that Abruzzo has done a lot in recent years to encourage employment growth and to improve the situation especially with regard to the weakest categories, such as women and young people”. Marsilio commented on the data together with councilor Tiziana Magnacca relating to 2023 and illustrated the initiatives regarding workplace safety and active policies that are in the pipeline.

“Just two years ago in Abruzzo the gap between men and women, in terms of employment percentage, was over 22% in favor of men. Today, however, the difference stands at 18%, with a recovery of 4 percentage points compared to the gender gap. Furthermore, – he added – there was almost 5.3% more employed women compared to 2021 and an overall growing employment rate of 61.3%, which brings the Abruzzo average very close to the national one. This means hooking up to a train that goes fast thanks also to the policies that the Meloni government is pursuing and which, today, will be strengthened with a decree that we are all waiting for and that we are ready to put into practice in our region”.

Marsilio then focused on the points on which to intervene decisively. “There is still a lot to do, especially in terms of safety in the workplace and I am ready to make a further effort because the data is quite negative. The last year has been really very bad from this point of view and it is our task to understand if these are unfortunate episodes or if there is a structural problem in the ways in which the controls are carried out. Unfortunately, as a Region we do not have direct tools to intervene because the labor inspectorates do not depend on us, we are an active part of a process aimed at improving working conditions and, – he concluded – as happened with the memorandum of understanding signed with Inail and all the trade associations, we will continue to operate in this direction with even greater attention and determination”.
