Long interview with the microphones of Radio Sportiva for the president of Genoa, Alberto Zangrillo.

ON GILARDINO – Many issues were touched upon by the rossoblù number 1, starting with the question relating to Alberto Gilardino’s stay on the bench: “A man from other times in football, there is a relationship of great esteem between us, I believe in him a lot and I have always supported and protected him. We had spoken during the week, we had confided to each other that the match against Cagliari was an important match to consolidate and make sense of the work done during the season. Future? There is a fluid and very proactive conversation taking place between Alberto, his agent and sporting director Ottolini, all in broad daylight. There are those who want to get to the scoop first by putting one side or the other in difficulty, but I reiterate that I trust Gilardino and would like to continue with him, after which however I am not the master president and I leave the technicians free to act.”

ON POSSIBLE SUMMER SALES – moving on to the field, Zangrillo made a point about the possible illustrious departures in the next transfer market: “All teams, even the first level ones, need to make capital gains. The television rights are distributed in such a way as not to guarantee economic virtuosity on the part of the small and medium-sized clubs, therefore quality scouting and work in the youth sector are needed, to achieve ever greater results without ever biting off more than you can chew.”

ON GUDMUNDSSON – among the surprises of the Griffon’s good season there is certainly the extraordinary performance of Albert Gudmundsson, a player for whom Zangrillo himself admits to having a particular predilection: “He is a young, serious boy and, there is no point in denying it, he wants cultivate ambitions that we are not able to guarantee at the moment. He has a national and international market, it is correct that both parties make evaluations, what matters is the final result. Inter? I don’t deal with these things, we let the player dream and we leave open the possibility of operating correctly on the market. We have learned to love our boys, we can make good operations and think that in a few years Albert will be able to say ‘if it wasn’t for Genoa I wouldn’t be here’”.

ON RETEGUI – finally, a note also on the other great rossoblù star, Mateo Retegui “The mere fact that he is an Argentine native who has attracted the attention of the national team coaches should say a lot about his qualities. He comes from two difficult seasons, but he is a complete center forward and it is nice that the national team can count on young people like him and Scamacca. I’m rooting for Mateo in blue and I know he won’t disappoint me.”
