All ready for the first edition of “Pasta Fest”, gastronomic event dedicated entirely to pasta to be held in Crotone from 23 to 25 May. The program of the event was illustrated this morning at the Pythagorean Chamber of Commerce headquarters, in attendance President of the Catanzaro – Crotone and Vibo Valentia Chamber of Commerce, Pietro Falbo, the vice President, Emilia Noce, the manager of Productive Activities, Economic Development, Fairs, Markets, Tourism, Cruises, Labor Policies and Protection, Maria Bruni and the event organizer Roberto Talarico.

It will be three days of events, demonstrations and tastings that will take place between Piazza Duomo and the surrounding streets. And among music, street artists, show cooking, and artisanal exhibitions, one of the oldest and most appreciated products of Made in Italy will be celebrated, pasta.

From 6.30 pm until midnight you can taste typical dishes of the Crotone and Calabrian tradition but also revisited and current recipes. Obviously everything will be accompanied by the delicious wine of the marquisate and ancient Enotria.

It will be a real moment of celebration in which the “Red Contest” will also take place, a singing competition in which all local artists, from 6 to 100 years old, divided into two categories: Junior and Senior, can participate. Crotone, thanks to “Pasta Fest”, aims to raise awareness of a thousand-year-old tradition that has reached the present day since the times of Magna Graecia. The Greek word laganon was used to mean a large, flat sheet of dough cut into strips. Production was also favored by large wheat crops.

An essential element for the production of pasta. And the ears of wheat are shown on many Magna Graecia coins that circulated in ancient Kroton. This is why “Pasta Fest” will not just be an eating experience but a real culinary and cultural journey that will allow visitors to discover pasta in its various forms and gastronomic variations.
