Taranto – The National President of FISMO ITALIAN FEDERATION OF THE FASHION SECTOR CONFESERCENTIDr. Benny Campobasso, participated, at the headquarters of Confesercenti Taranto Casaimpresaat the General Assembly of traders in the fashion sector, clothing, footwear, accessories, etc.

Campobasso, Intermite and Liuzzi

During the meeting, which was coordinated by the president of CONFESERCENTI Taranto CasaImpresa Francesca Intermite, various topics on the situation of the sector and the activities of the federation were addressed. The national president Campobasso, who among other things is also the regional president of Confesercenti, focused on the national campaign PHISMO “Let’s save the end of season sales”, an initiative which, as is known, aims to introduce substantial changes to the regulation of sales.

“I am honored to be in Taranto, here I find myself at home, because my father was from Taranto – thus began the national president of Fismo Confesercenti Benny Campobasso – I thank the president Francesca Intermite for the invitation and the welcome. Our Confesercenti has made the fashion sector a “flagship” because it began a serious journey some time ago to try to obtain concrete results, to take a snapshot of the sector. The period is certainly not favorable: the numbers are dramatic, in the last ten years for every company that opens two have closed. This is the signal of the negative trend.

We are all from Puglia and we believe that there are the conditions to start again, to rebuild an associative sensitivity capable of carrying forward some issues that, at a national level, we are pursuing with the Ministry. The time has come for Taranto to restart and take on an important role in the Apulian economy; Taranto is a province waiting to be discovered, it has a commercial and productive tradition in the fashion and clothing sector, a tradition that must be further enhanced. There are all the conditions to restart.

As a Federation, at a national level, we are in constant contact with Minister Urso and Deputy Minister Valentini: it is an almost daily discussion on the most important issues and this is because the Italian Fashion system, together with Made in Italy, is considered a cornerstone and it is highly valued.

I believe that all the policies that are being carried out, even at a European level, confirm the recognition that all the countries of Europe and beyond attribute to us”.

Thus the president of Confesercenti Taranto Casaimpresa, Francesca Intermite: “It was a truly satisfying and exciting meeting not only for the active participation of many traders but also for the presence of the national president of Fismo, Benny Campobasso, which launched important messages for the sector, from the national campaign on the defense of sales at the end of the season, to the web tax which will finally regulate the competition that the fashion sector has so far experienced and suffered from online commerce. The president highlighted – in the national scenario – some signs, albeit small, but which give us hope for the future – of a reversal of trend and a move closer to neighborhood shops – in this period – especially among the younger generations. Naturally, all the other problems in the sector that we know well remain on the table. But these are important signals that make us look to the future with confidence,

Today it was nice to see many colleagues here with at least twenty years of activity behind them: some of their companies have been recognized as historic businesses. With the election of a new president of the Federation of the Confesercenti Fashion sector in Taranto, we want to give a strong signal, that is, that we can and must start again believing that the world can be saved from beauty and with beauty: we will try, together, to save Taranto and its territory”.

Here are the members of the FISMo Confesercenti Taranto board, with the president and four deputies, who were appointed at the end of the elective Assembly’s work:

ANDREA LIUZZI (AL 130, Martina Franca) President, GIANFRANCO LOSPINOSO (TRENDS) vice president for TarantoANDREA RUGGIERO (INTERNSHIP) vice president for Taranto, PATRIZIA TATULLO (MAEBA CONCEPT STORE), vice president for the eastern area of the province of Taranto, CHIARA ROCCO (CENTROSPORT) vice president for the western area of the province of Taranto.

Thus the new president of Fismo Taranto, Andrea Liuzzi: “I would like to thank the management of Fismo Confesercenti Taranto who placed so much trust in me. We will make a good team and we will try to fight large-scale retail trade together, we will ask for an essential rationalization of the sales system and we must make sure that our children fall in love with this work of ours. We must therefore insist on training, we will try to organize courses on the fashion sector, training for both owners and employees. We must aim every day to be increasingly competent and more competitive. With the new management of Fismo we will decline innovation and development: and we must bring people back to the shopping streets, also with entertainment, with events, with our attention”.

There PHISMO ITALIAN FEDERATION OF THE FASHION SECTOR CONFESERCENTI is one of the strongest trade unions in Confesercenti due to its political and trade union importance and its organized strength, as is the number of members, over 24,500 out of approximately 165,500 companies operating in Italy, and was established in 1979.

FISMO, which represents small and medium-sized companies that deal with the retail distribution of clothing, textiles, footwear, leather goods and fashion accessories, is present with its own organized management groups in all Italian provinces.

In recent years it has been characterized in a particular way with respect to some problems particularly felt by operators: initiatives aimed at regulating the entry of large-scale retail trade into our sector in a more balanced way; development of policies aimed at enhancing the retail commercial presence in historic centres; Ø end-of-season sales; Ø extraordinary sales; Ø promotional sales; the age-old and fundamental issue for the category of the tax assessment of warehouse inventories.

FISMO’s task is also to provide the category with new analysis and programming tools capable of creating the conditions and opportunities to act within an increasingly global, but not globalizing, market.
