The dreamlike acrobatics of the traveling show

The debate on the forms and aesthetics of contemporary circus was already in 2001, in the aftermath of a Theater Biennale directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsettian important moment of synthesis between the pages of the collection The circus and the stage.
Forms of contemporary entertainment, edited by Gigi Cristoforetti And Alessandro Serena (the latter author – a few years later – of a foundational History of the Circus published for Bruno Mondadori).
The volume in question literally “tested” the stability of the circus ring, between historical reconnaissance, bodies at risk and intersections with the choreographic language, in a general movement of legitimation that defended the “art” forms from the drifts of virtuosity “sporty” (as he defined them Bernard Turingreat pedagogue of the discipline and former trapeze artist).
More than twenty years have now passed, the contemporary circus has finally found full citizenship in territorial posters (especially in the province and in the more peripheral villages), representing – among the performing arts – the most imaginative and capable of generating dreamlike scenarios in the minds of the public and bewitching.
Precisely for this reason, every year, Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo programs within its posters numerous proposals for “acrobatic” stages, arenas and chapiteaux.
Circuit circus
On the weekend of May 3-5the Municipality of Cavallermaggiore – between the San Giorgio Theater and the ephemeral stages of Piazza Baden Powell – hosts the new edition of Istantanea, an exhibition curated by Cordata FOR.
Among the circus proposals, Rock’aRella of and with Francesca Mari, a show with a rock soul in which two personalities coexist: on the one hand, an “all pepper” acrobat who arrives on stage aboard his own motorcycle for the greatest concert ever; on the other, an ordinary lady, narrator and attentive connoisseur of the history of rock. They follow, Abattoit Bluesthe last show of the Abundance Trilogy by Luigi Ciotta (ironically focused on the mistreatment of animals in intensive farming and the ambivalent relationship with meat) and Concrete 00 with Paolo Tonezzer, Lorenzo Mauro Rossi And Paola Carusoin the guise of three bizarre and daring warehouse workers who decide to attempt an escape plan from the mysterious place where they are forced to work tirelessly.
Also not to be missed Oldies Goldies. Better late than nevera co-production by Trio Trioche and Teatro della Caduta, a comic concert with impeccable performances that form the backdrop to figure animations, surreal gags and magic tricks.
The BlucinQue Company is offering an important event in the Piedmont area, now in its third edition: from 13 to 19 May, in and around the chapiteau of Parco Lama, it is in fact the time of the Nice Festival 2024 Settimo Torinese.
On the programme, names of international caliber such as Fondazione Cirko Vertigo, Collettivo Binario Zero, La Barque Acide, Bruta Bruja and Magdaclan.

The exhibition closes on June 1st Shipwrecked.
Riding the waves of creativity, Circus Zoe invites the public to be part of an unprecedented journey, to the rhythm of the drums that mark the movements and to the notes of the accordion that accompanies the evolutions of the crew.
