Forlì. Rinaldini (centre-left mayoral candidate) on May Day: more good work, no more deaths at work, solidarity with Crai workers

“Today we celebrate Labor Day, the foundation of the Constitution and the Republic. Labor Day is the celebration of democracy, a prerequisite for social cohesion and the principle of dignity for every person. On this very important day for Italy and for our community, my thoughts and solidarity go first and foremost to the workers of the Crai supermarket in via Balzella who, in recent days, have been fired after a lifetime of work and sacrifice. But it also goes to all the workers in our area who find themselves in a difficult situation because they are at risk of redundancy or relocation and who are fighting for better working conditions. Furthermore, it is necessary for public administrations to recognize the due contractual increases to workers of social cooperatives who play a fundamental role in the welfare of the territory”. Thus the mayoral candidate Graziano Rinaldini who tomorrow, May 1st, will be in Piazza Saffi (Corso della Repubblica corner) in the morning starting from 10 and in the afternoon, for the traditional distribution of the carnation, the historic symbol of May 1st.

“Without work for all there can be no democracy and the full exercise of citizenship rights cannot exist. Work is the fundamental activity of women and men, a source of wealth and progress, a space for relational and social life and must be understood not only as a means of sustenance but as a means of expression and personal gratification. In Italy, in 2023, there were over 1,041 deaths at work and we cannot speak of a tragic fatality. It was not the case at the Enel plant in Suviana where seven people lost their lives or at the Esselunga construction site in Florence, where five died. This is why we say enough to the cascade procurements wanted by Salvini and the Meloni government, no more deaths at work. It is necessary to apply a procurement system that provides for the minimum wage, certifications that guarantee the safety and technical and economic quality requirements of companies. Because, as Cardinal Zuppi reminds us, safety is not a cost and it is not a luxury but a duty, an inalienable right of every person” continues Graziano Rinaldini candidate for mayor for the centre-left in Forlì.

“What we propose, therefore, is a pact for work that reconciles professional and private lifeconcludes Rinaldini -, which includes the reduction of involuntary part time and the short working week that dozens of companies in Forlì already apply, investing in professional training in the sectors of robotisation, computerization and digitalisation to combat poor work and promote the development of the skills of our young”.
